In the UK alone, 1 person dies every 5 hours from asbestos related chest cancer.  It's rapidly becoming the country's biggest killer.

Asbestos was so widely used by builders and in industry in the last century that it is still present in many buildings today.  Workers such as plumbers, carpenters, electricians and gas fitters are particularly at risk where buildings are being demolished or modernised.

There is very often a delay between being exposed to asbestos and becoming ill - anything from 15 to 60 years.  Individuals exposed many years ago may only have recently been diagnosed.
